The Heart of Mountain Rise

The mountain where Mountain Rise takes place is steeped in history, spirituality, and cultural heritage. This sacred land is home to Wat Phra Phutthabat Si Roi (the Temple of the Four Buddha Footprints), a revered site where the footprints of four Buddhas are believed to rest. It is said that the mountain holds the blessings of these enlightened beings, making it a place of deep peace and spiritual significance. For centuries, pilgrims have made their way here to pay homage, seeking blessings and solace amidst the tranquil beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Nestled within this sacred mountain’s embrace is Sai Mok Waterfall, the enchanting heart of Mountain Rise. True to its name, which translates to “Misty Waterfall”, it radiates an ethereal charm, with cascading waters creating a refreshing mist that dances through the air. The waterfall is a source of inspiration and rejuvenation, offering a serene backdrop for mindfulness, creativity, and joyful celebration. This captivating location embodies the harmony between nature and community, reflecting Mountain Rise’s core values and providing the perfect setting for artful, joyful experiences and meaningful connections.

The land surrounding Sai Mok Waterfall is not only home to natural beauty but also a place of profound cultural significance. It is home to the villagers of Baan Huay Som Suk, a community under the care of the esteemed King Khun Luang Wilanka in ancient times, the legendary ruler of the Lawa people. The Lawa, an ancient group with deep ties to this mountain, have long called this sacred land their home. King Khun Luang Wilanka, revered for his wisdom and leadership, left a legacy of strength, unity, and a deep respect for the land. His values continue to resonate through the generations of this close-knit community.  

The villagers’ warm hospitality and dedication to the land are integral to the spirit of Mountain Rise, shaping the festival with authenticity and reverence for tradition. By hosting this event, they not only invite us to experience the beauty of their home but also share their cultural heritage, hospitality, and the deep sense of unity that defines their way of life.
